Bibword styles seem to cause Word for Mac 2016 to crash when switching to a bibword style (e.g. IEEE). Installed as per previous versions by copying all xml files to Microsoft Word 2016.app->Content->Resources->Style.
Comments: ** Comment from web user: MHolla **

Word also crashes on my Mac (after a short time with a document with IEEE reference style). Only tested with "IEEE reference.xsl"
Word: 15.13.1

!!! BibWord is not supported on Word 2016 for Mac !!!

BibWord is not supported on Word 2016 for Mac. The issue is not with BibWord but with Microsoft (see here). So please do not ask for a fix as it currently cannot be done.

Introduction

BibWord makes it easier to create and manipulate Microsoft Word citation and bibliography styles. BibWord also resolves several limitations of the basic implementation by Microsoft.
For end-users, BibWord offers a collection of easy to use styles.

For End-Users (updated May 10, 2009)

Styles
A collection of styles created using the BibWord template. Styles include:

  • Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas (ABNT)
  • Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
  • American Chemical Society (ACS)
  • American Medical Association (AMA)
  • American Sociological Association (ASA)
  • Council of Science Editors (CSE)
  • Harvard AGPS - Anglia - Exeter - Leeds
  • Humana Press
  • IEEE
  • Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS)
  • Modern Humanities Research Association (MHRA)
  • Nature
  • Vancouver
  • ...

BibWord Extender
A tool for creating numeric in-text citations based on the ordering of the bibliographic entries. With some styles, it can also be used to generate year suffices.

For Developers (updated September 27, 2009)

Tools

  • BibWord - A template for the creation of Word 2007/2008 bibliography styles. Styles created using the template can be easily maintained or adjusted by others.
  • BibWord Extender - An extension of BibWord for creating both numeric in-text citations based on the ordering of the bibliographic entries and year suffices. This can only be used with BibWord styles.
  • BibType - A command-line tool for the creation and adaptation of the content of the GUI for editing sources within Word 2007(bibform.xml).

FAQ

  • List of FAQ questions for people creating their own stylesheets from scratch or adjusting the predefined Word 2007 bibliography styles.

Older stuff

A number of older stylesheets and templates. They are no longer supported.

  • IEEE style v.2.5 - an older pre-BibWord version of the IEEE style. Use the BibWord replacements instead.
  • Template using a two column layout for bibliographies.
  • Template with extension capabilities such as sorting.
  • BibOrder - An extension of BibWord for creating both numeric in-text citations based on the ordering of the bibliographic entries and year suffices. This can only be used with BibWord styles.(deprecated, use BibWord Extender instead)
  • A number of requested styles based on the original Word 2007 styles.

New Post: How to set different author order between bibliography and footnote citation?

Hello,
I am studding a Master's degree and I want to use Word's bibliography tool.
My problem is that we use citation in very exact way, the way that the university tell us. I have been looking for different templates but none of them suites to our citation form. So, I start editing the template to match the form we have to use.
More less, I managed to put everything in the correct way for the bibliography. my problem is footnote citation.
At university we use the following for bibliography:
LAST NAME, Name, _Title. Subtitle_, Publisher, City year.
And for footnote citation:
Name LAST NAME, Name, _Title. Subtitle_, Publisher, City year.
How can I get different other for citation and bibliography? Can somebody help me?
I also, have another question. Is there any way to put the footnote citation with Ibid or Op. Cit if the book is already citated?

Thanks a lot.

P.D: sorry for my bad English, I'm from Spain.

Hello! Downloaded, installed. Word spotted all of them, except the MHRA, which it calls "unknown". I haven't tampered with any of them - just copied and pasted them all across straight. Any ideas? Thanks :)

New Post: In-text citations functionality

Thank you for the excellent work. Unlike Microsoft's files, BibWord makes possible to create new styles or modify them according to the editors requirements, with minimum effort (and xslt knowledge). Being a professional author of scholarly texts, this is great and I recommend my students to use it for their papers.

I'd like to ask whether there is a way to have the authors' initials appear in the in-text citations, only for different authors with the same last name.

Example:
(Peterson K., 2008; Peterson R.A., 2002; Lewis, 1999; Rogers, 1965)

Two different Petersons, but only one Lewis and only one Rogers. Some styles, including APA, require that in this case the authors' initials should be mentioned too.

I guess that an additional option is needed for %First% and %Middle% in the <namelists> (<first_person> and <other_persons>) that would allow initials to appear for non-unique author names. An additional template, checking for non-unique author names is also needed. Unfortunately, my knowledge to create this option and the corresponding template, is insufficient.

Another option, I guess, would be to include this in a new BibWordExtender version, which anyway resolves the significant problems with the year extensions.

Thanks for any help

Styles

Latest version of all styles

Introduction

The main goal of this project is to collect and maintain a number of bibliography styles which can be used by Microsoft Word 2007 and later. Most styles are either created using BibWord or derived from the styles which come with Microsoft Word.

Each family of styles comes with its own release page. Whenever bugs are fixed or new types are added, the same release gets updated.

Everybody who wants to submit a style can do so by contacting one of the project coordinators. The only requirement for putting a style on the project page, is that you release your style under the MIT license. That basically allows people to do whatever they want with your style as long as they give you credit for it.

Supported styles

The following list contains an overview of the current set of styles:

Download

You can download a zip file containing all styles from here.

Installation on Windows (Word 2007/2010/2013)

To use the bibliography styles, they have to be copied into the Microsoft Word bibliography style directory. This directory can vary depending on where Word is installed:
Word 2007
<winword.exe directory>\Bibliography\Style
On most 32-bits machines with Microsoft Word 2007 this will be:

    %programfiles%\Microsoft Office\Office12\Bibliography\Style
Once the styles are copied to the directory, they will show up every time Microsoft Word is opened.
Word 2010
<winword.exe directory>\Bibliography\Style
On most 32-bits machines with Microsoft Word 2010 this will be:

    %programfiles%\Microsoft Office\Office14\Bibliography\Style
Once the styles are copied to the directory, they will show up every time Microsoft Word is opened.
Word 2013
<user directory>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style
On most machines with Micrososft Word 2013 this will be:

    %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style
Once the styles are copied to the directory, they will show up every time Microsoft Word is opened.
Word 365
    %AppData%\Microsoft\Templates\LiveContent\15\Managed\Word Document Bibliography Styles
Once the styles are copied to the directory, they will show up every time Microsoft Word is opened.

Remark: the types.xml included with the stylesheets should be used in combination with BibType to create some extra fields for the different types.

Installation for Word 2008 for Mac

To use the bibliography styles, right-click on Microsoft Word 2008 and select show package contents. Put the files in:

    Contents/Resources/Style/
